About Us

Family owned and operated, we founded our company on American ideals like hard work, grit, and integrity. We are a licensed, insured, and certified backflow company established in Corcoran, MN, proudly protecting the Twin Cities and surrounding area's potable water supplies from contamination or pollution caused by backflow.

What is a Backflow Device?

In general, backflow devices or assemblies are used to protect the water supply from any potential contamination. This includes, but is not limited to, boilers, irrigation systems, soda carbonators, ice machines, and fire protection.

A backflow device for an irrigation system, for example, prevents the reverse flow of contaminated water from the sprinklers from getting into the domestic or city water supply. Lawns and landscapes contain fertilizers, chemicals, bacteria, dirt, fungus, and other hazards that could leech into an irrigation head, and be drawn back into the drinking water supply if the source is not properly backflow prevented.

Utility Department Requirements

To prevent an incident, a code-approved mechanical backflow prevention device must be installed in all applications where cross-connection could occur. These devices must be tested annually for proper operation per the Minnesota Plumbing Code. Local utility companies must comply with the rules and regulations set forth for public health and safety.

AquaShield Backflow Inspections has certified backflow specialists that are able to test domestic and irrigation devices to ensure they are up to code. We even submit the results to the proper government agency for you.
Because testing is all we do, we are able to schedule easier and keep our costs lower than that of a typical plumber.

STILL NOT SURE?

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to have my Backflow Preventer tested?

Minnesota Plumbing Code requires at least a once annual test for backflow preventers installed in and after 2016

Will you remind me? Will you spam me?

We will contact you with reminders of your test appointment. We only send a few reminders, however, and promise to never spam you with unnecessary messages.

Do I need to be home?

Depending on your backflow preventer, you may not have to be home. If it is an external preventer, like on a irrigation system for example, you do not have to be home for the test. If it is a preventer for your home, however, you will have to be home to let the tech in and show them the preventer.

Do you do a background check on your people?

Yes, and we guarantee their professionalism and trustworthiness.

How far do you travel?

We service an approximate 25 mile radius of Minneapolis. We can make appointments for farther distances, but they will need to be specially scheduled by calling.

Will you notify the city?

Yes. If you schedule tests with us, we will take care of everything required for completing the test to plumbing code requirements.

What happens if the test fails?

If the test fails, that means that the preventer is not working properly. If that happens, we will contact a certified plumber on your behalf, who will come out to look at it, and potentially clean, repair, or replace the preventer.

How long will the test take?

We cannot guarantee a specific amount of time, but for a standard passing test, it should only take around 15-20 minutes. However, if a tech comes out, they will inform you that the water might be off for as long as 1 hour.

Do you repair?

Due to the requirements for repairing backflow preventers in the Minnesota plumbing code, we cannot repair the preventers ourselves. We do ensure that we find a trustworthy, qualified plumber to fix you preventer.
